Tasting Note

This is a delightful example of this Cru Beaujolais from an excellent vintage. There’s a wonderful ripeness and concentration to theblackberry, cherry and blueberry fruit and aromatic floral noteslike peony and iris scents mingle with the intense fruits. On the palate it is smooth and fresh and there’s a delicious earthy note and a touch of chocolate joining the fruit. It’s deliciously complex, you just want to keep tasting. It keeps it all balanced between acidity and tannins.

Try this with a pork chop.

Producer Info

A super property beautifully situated just by Le Chteau du Moulin–Vent with very fine terroir including La Rochelle and Rochegrs, sandstone, pink granit and manganese. Thierry Janin is a true vigneron! We were recommended to Thierry by his brother Eric who runs the famous better-known family vineyard Paul Janin.

Thierry owns 1 hectare of old vines in Moulin–Vent which makes up the majority of his Cuve Tradition, and works on a further 6 hectares on a mtayage basis.

Thierrys Moulin–Vent vines are around 45-55 years old while in the Rochelle and Rochegrs they are older, some around 70-80 years old. He adheres to organic principles in the vineyards and in most years the grapes are whole bunch fermented and aged in old foudres.

Minimal doses of SO2 are usually added during fermentation, just before bottling and the wines undergo a gentle filtration.
