A delicious Californian Syrah with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and coffee followed by a fruit-filled and savory palate with a spicy smoky character and refreshing acidity. It’s a big satisfying mouthful, but never jammy and the use of French oak gives this a supple texture that makes it very easy to drink.
Try this with a rump steak and fries.
“We love Qup wines. They’ve been a favourite for years. This Syrah is just a joy to drink. It is inspired by the rich and spicy wines of France’s Rhne Valley, but it has a plenty of American bold style too. Great paired with a steak and chips.”

Qup focuses on cool climate expressions of Rhne varietals along the Central Coast of Santa Barbara Country. Their Syrah is sourced from various vineyards on the Central Coast starting as far south as the Santa Ynez Valley up to the Adelaida District in northern Paso Robles. They use 10% of grapes as whole clusters in open-top fermenters before destemming the rest. Fermentation is in a combination of small open-top fermenters using manual punch down, and larger closed-top tanks using pump overs. The wine was aged for 16 months in Franois Frres Burgundy barrels, 15% new.
