Patrizia Cencioni opened her own winery in 1989 in the south-east of Montalcino, after years of inspiration drawn from the lessons of her grandfather, Giuseppe Cencioni, who was a founding member of the Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio. Her stunning 9ha of Sangiovese vines run alongside ancient olive orchards, overlook Val d’Orcia and benefit greatly from the high altitude climate and combination of volcanic and Tuscanys famed Galestro (compacted clay) soil. Writing for jebdunnuck.com, Audrey Frick observes how Patrizia is successfully working to produce wines that remain rich but also have elegance and a sense of place. Their distinctive character, aromatic precision and value for money have made them firm favourites among Honest Grapes Club Members at successive tastings.
We were delighted to be joined by Patrizias daughter, Annalisa, for a special supper at award-winning Enrica Rocca cookery in Notting Hill, where she showcased her familys exceptional Brunellos.
