Monkey 47 was conceived by an Englishman, Montgomery Collins. A diplomats son, he grew up in Asia among gin drinking colonials. After some years in post-war Berlin where he helped rebuild the zoo and adopted a monkey named Max Monty opened a guesthouse, The Wild Monkey’, in the Black Forest. Here he found an ample supply of local botanicals and set about creating a gin that was a fusion of flavours from the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) and Asia. Perfect with tonic or as part of whichever gin cocktail wets your whistle.
