ORGANIC (UNCERTIFIED) / VEGAN / NATURAL/ NO ADDED SULPHITES

Old vine Gamay, from a high altitude and volcanic soil. The name refers to the black volcanic rock in the soil, bringing a tonne of minerality and rich earthiness to the table. Floral and barnyard aromas when first opened, but the funk softens as it breathes. Prickly and lively, with notes of damson and sour cherries.

Jean Maupertuis maintains his 3.5 hectare plots all himself, hand pruning and picking, and upholding organic practices. His production is tiny, so whenever we can get our hands on some of his delicious natural offerings, we don’t hesitate as they tend to disappear quickly!
