Louis Latour Fixin

With its profound rubis color, the Louis Latour Fixin displays roasted notes and undergrowth aromas. Fresh on the palate, its unveils black cherry and liquorice aromas with hints of grilled notes. Silky tannins.

Located between Dijon and Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin (pronounced “Fissin”) is one of the northernmost appellations of the Cte de Nuits. Its vineyards are based on a clay-limestone marly soil and are mostly exposed to the east. Less known than its neighbours, it represents excellent value for money. Powerful and structured wine, Fixin will be perfect after a few years of aging.

Ageing: 10 to 12 months ageing in oak barrels (mainly one year old barrels)

Producer

Maison Louis Latour’s Domaine wines are produced at Chteau Corton Grancey in the village of Aloxe-Corton using traditional techniques and almost entirely made by hand. The Domaine is managed by Christophe Deola.

Louis Latour’s other wines are made at the Clos Chameroy on the outskirts of Beaune under the watchful eye of Jean Charles Thomas. Here in their state of the art winery vinification takes place; blending centuries of tradition with beneficial modern innovations. During the harvest Louis Latour’s third winery in Pommard handles the red grapes from the Cte de Beaune vineyards.

The Latour family are long established in Burgundy’s wine trade. They began as vine growers in the village of Aloxe-Corton as early as 1760s and went on to establish today’s business, Maison Louis Latour, in 1797. Today they are one of the region’s most famous names, creating wines from their own 50 hectare domaine in the Cte d’Or and from grapes and wines purchased through the negociant arm of the business. They also produce all their own barrels at their small, traditional cooperage in Savigny-Ls-Beaune.

The company has been in family ownership for 11 generations and is now led by the seventh person to take the name Louis Latour. He is ably supported by head winemaker Jean Charles Thomas and domaine director Christophe Deola.
