Gente de Mezcal Tepextate is produced by Aureliano Hernandez, a 5th generation mezcalero, in San Baltazar Guelavila, Oaxaca. The agave pias are cooked in a ground oven, crushed with a stone mill, naturally fermented in wooden vats, and distilled in copper pots. On the nose this mezcal is light and floral with notes of soft bitterness, pepper, and dried green chillies. Gente de Mezcal Tepeztate won a Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
