Fernando de Castilla was revitalised by Jan Pettersen, a Norwegian with a passion for quality fortified wine, in 1999. This ‘PX’ is a real show-stopper, and was winner of ‘Best Sweet Fortified’ at the 2019 Wines of Spain Awards.

A seductive and richly textured sweet sherry from a single solera showing a complex and moreish palate of coffee, liquorice, sweet tobacco, dried fruit and toffee. Perfect sipped slowly on its own, with Christmas cake and pudding, or poured over good vanilla ice cream (preferably one with PX-soaked raisins liberally dotted inside it).
