The Felton Road Vin Gris is made from Pinot Noir grapes, but it is only produced in certain vintages where larger berries occur. At Felton Road, meticulous farming without chemicals and observing the natural rhythms of their ecosystem, combined with natural “hands-off” winemaking results in a wine that expresses a true sense of place. At the winery, a small amount of free-run juice was immediately separated from the Pinot Noir tanks to prevent colour pick-up. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation and ageing on the gross lees to add palate depth and complexity. Very pale salmon in colour with aromas of fresh strawberries, mouth-filling fruit on the palate and finishing crisp and dry.
