Located on the border between Beaujolais and Macon, Domaine de la Creuze Noire is a solid family-owned property. Run by Dominique and Christine Martin who offer a broad selection of red and white Burgundy and Beaujolais (not forgetting an award-winning Saint-Veran) all made entirely from estate-grown fruit.

The modest and very likeable owner Dominique Martin represents the fifth generation of winemakers in his family. He works entirely without insecticides and pesticides. Besides great white Burgundy Dominique also makes a precious Julienas and Saint-Amour in Beaujolais. His pure, pure style and modest pricing make the wines very popular.

Vinification

Coteaux Bourguignons allows fruit to be sourced from greater Burgundy & Beaujolais regions. Domaine de la Creuze Noire Coteaux Bourguignons is a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay which gives an exceptionally smooth soft approachable wine.

Tasting Notes

Beautiful ripe red fruits on the nose. More of the same on the palate, especially raspberry and red cherry backed up with a nice pepper spice. The tannins are supple and elegant, with a refreshing acidity on the finish. Produced in a relatively new appelation which borders both Macon and Beaujolais amongst others, this is an extremely good value red Burgundy.

An ideal red to accompany light white meat dishes or even fish dishes for those who prefer red wine. This is a perfect match for dishes such as red meats, barbecues, coq au vin.
