A bold but balanced claret from a rising star of the Left Bank, in a party-sized magnum.
Rich, ripe and wonderfully structured, the Chteau Saransot-Dupr 2020 shows why Listrac-Mdoc deserves more love. On the nose, theres a lovely blend of blackberries, cassis, graphite, and spice, with a touch of tobacco and floral lift. The palate is firmand layered full of dark fruit, polished tannins, and a savoury twist on the finish. Its a claret that overdelivers.

Serving tip: Decant for an hour before drinking especially from magnum to let it open up fully.
I love this wine because its got the bones of a proper Mdoc dark fruit, minerality, structure but with a friendliness that makes it a real crowd-pleaser. And in magnum? Its a cracking bottle for a roast dinner or a special get-together.
Chteau Saransot-Dupr has quietly built a reputation as one of the standout estates in Listrac-Mdoc, the highest and coolest part of the Left Bank. Owned by the Brard family, whove farmed here since the 18th century, its a rare Mdoc property that also grows Malbec, adding an extra dimension to the classic Bordeaux blend.
The 2020 vintage was warm and generous, producing wines with great depth and ripe tannins. Saransot-Duprs vineyards, set on gravel and clay-limestone soils, helped preserve freshness and balance.
