Born from the trials & travels of Trudy Stacy.
When Nick and Trudy started Clandestine Vineyards, it was a moment of absolute clarity for them both. They were chasing a shared dream. Nick had 30 years of experience in the wine game, which was a huge asset to Trudy and to their business. But she also wanted to break free and express herself on her terms.

I wanted to broaden our horizon to include the natural wine market. I wanted to showcase grapes with no intervention, to hero a true expression of their essence. Vin Nat is a fantastic opportunity to appreciate a grapes heritage and flavour. The wines we have selected to form a part of Break Free symbolise the parts of my life that signify balance and clarity.

Vineyards

With a solid backbone of single vineyard Mount Barker Shiraz, we use multiple fermentation techniques (steel, old oak; large and small) and three separate co-ferments with Frankland River Gewurztraminer, Viognier and Riesling (skins only) its rose, but not as you know it!

Vinification

The combination of alternative fermentations techniques gives the palate delicacy, weight, texture and length that simply one sip cant justify. Like all Break Free wines, there is no filtration or fining and minimal sulphur on bottling to keep the wine fresh and lively.

Tasting Notes

This dry rose presents pale pink in the glass with a light lees suspension that allows a truly exotic range of botanicals and aromatics that excite the senses. Pomegranate, watermelon and scorched mandarin notes flow effortlessly, while clean and crisp acidity refreshes.

Deux Rebelles (two rebels) not only describes this unique rose but encapsulates Trudy and Nicks journey in creating Break Free Wines, always breaking traditional styles with highly aromatic and strangely curious wines that always entice!
