Although there remains some youthful greenness, the bouquet of this full-bodied wine suggests tremendously ripe fruit, reminiscent of spicy plum jam. A ripe, sweet-fruited nose bursts with berry fruit, pepper, and vanilla, with subtle hints of Karoo bos adding a touch of wild herbaceousness. On the palate, a full, rounded mouthfeel introduces rich plum flavours that echo the nose, evolving beautifully as the glass stands. Smoke and spice emerge, adding layers of complexity, while rounded tannins make for very easy drinkingeven in its youth. This wine will continue to develop with great benefit over 45 years.
