Barao de Vilars Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) 2017 is a rich and vibrant expression of Douros finest traditions. Crafted from Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca grapes, foot-trodden in granite lagares, this port offers a deep ruby hue with an intense bouquet of ripe blackberries, cherries, and plum. Notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, and subtle spice add complexity. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with a long, elegant finish that reveals layers of character and depth.
Decant this unfiltered LBV prior to serving to remove natural deposits. Enjoy it with red or black fruit-filled cakes, tiramisu, fruit ice cream, or an indulgent cheese board featuring Stilton or Brie. Serve at room temperature to fully appreciate its nuanced flavours.
This LBV is a blend of rich, fruity wines from a single vintage, aged 4 to 6 years in large oak vats (tonels) before bottling unfiltered to preserve its intensity. The Van Zeller family, with a winemaking legacy spanning 14 generations since the 17th century, brings their expertise and passion to every bottle. Each hand-painted bottle is a work of art, reflecting the dedication that defines Barao de Vilar.
Powerful yet elegant, this LBV port is ready to enjoy now, with the potential to develop further complexity in the bottle over time. A testament to Barao de Vilars proud heritage and artisanal skill.
