The stark contrast between land and sea is the inspiration for Whitby Gins botanicals along with the packaging and design.
Heather Flower is collected in collaboration with the North York Moors Authority during June – September. Whitby Gin also work with SeaGrown a seaweed farm based 5 miles offshore from Scarborough to gather forgotten flavours from the sea including sugar kelp and pepper dulse. Yorkshire Honey is one of the key ingredients and makes it’s way in to a number of different Editions.
Prince of Darkness Gin
The Prince of Darkness Edition was created in celebration of the 125th publishing anniversary of Bram Stoker’s – Dracula.
Perfect for Halloween and developed from the international award-winning Whitby Gin, The Prince of Darkness gin is laid to rest in Transylvanian Oak casks taking on flavours of vanilla and caramel. The oak-aged gin is then combined with cherry and citrus to create a spirit as impressive in appearance as it is on the palate.
Style
Barrel aged flavoured gin.
Key Botanicals
Juniper, coriander seed, citrus peels and Liquorice Root. Along with Heather tip, Yorkshire Moors Honey and Sugar Kelp, pepper dulse. Barrel aged in Transylvanian oak and then infused with cherry and citrus.
Tasting Notes
Sweet cherry notes are perfectly balanced against a hint of smokiness to create a fierce warmth with an added bite. A citrus aroma with a hint of smokiness partnered with a hint of jammy sweetness.
Perfect Serve
Prince of Darkness is enjoyable as a gin and tonic as well as over something bubbly. Fill a glass with lots of chunky ice and add 150ml of Premium tonic. Then add 50ml of The Prince of Darkness Edition and watch the blood-red hue deep through the ice. Garnish with a slice of ginger.
