The Valdaya Ribera del Duero is pure, old bush vine Tempranillo sourced from a selection of plots grown in high-altitude villages. Each plot is hand harvested and vinified separately before the free run wine of each parcel passes into a selection of new barrels according to their potential for ageing (90% French oak, 10% Hungarian oak) where malolactic fermentation and maturation takes place for a further 15 months. The wine displays intense aromas of fruits of the forest, blackberries and currants, giving way to balsamic and violet notes.
