Bodega Gotica have been producing wine in the municipality of Rueda for several generations.

The Estate is divided into 4 plots which were planted out between 1983 and 2001. Their philosophy is to innovate, and their objective is to offer a quality product based on the excellence of their work.

The first commercial vintage was in 2004 with the production of wines from 3 grape varieties, Verdejo, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, with which they continue to produce excellent white, ros and red wines.

The Rueda Denomination of Origin was recognized on January 12, 1980, by order of the Ministry of Agriculture, being the first Denomination of Origin recognized in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y Len, after several years working for the recognition and protection of its native variety : Verdejo.

Vineyards

The plantation is in trellis located in the municipality of Rueda in 4 plots.

The fruit for the Trascampanas is sourced from the oldest vines on the property. The grape harvest is at night and picked by hand.

Vinification

Picked under the light of the moon, as the texture of the verdejo grape skins is more compressed, boosting the aromatic features of this variety. Once the fruit goes through cryo-maceration (the process of freezing the skins of the grapes). Once defrosted, the subsequent fermentation can extract about 50% more of these critical compounds than a conventional fermentation. This process takes in cooler temperatures and for longer than usual to enhance the wines backbone and aromas.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow colour, with lemony-greenish glints, leaving tears on the glass thanks to its oily consistency. Classic powerful varietal aromas of green grass, minerals, and citrus fruit. Unhurried silky mouthfeel with a restrained acidity to guarantee the wines longevity and a finish with bitter hints of grapefruit and a tasty, well-balanced persistence.

Fish, seafood & cheese pair well. Due to the excellent backbone of Verdejo it is perfect for meat and specially for cold cured meat.
