Every year, Krug blends over 150 reserve wines from more than 10 different vintages, some aged for up to 15 years, to create a cuve that captures the essence of Krugs rich, layered, and elegant house style.

This new 173 blend consists of 150 wines from 13 different years, with the oldest being from 2001 and the youngest from 2017, comprising 44% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay, and 22% Meunier, with 31% reserve wines. This cuve has matured for at least 7 years in Krugs cellars, allowing it to be enjoyed now or stored for further complexity.

The diverse characteristics of the 2017 plots were evident in the tasting room, showcasing some delightful expressions but occasionally accompanied by a degree of inconsistency and rusticity. The inclusion of reserve wines, such as the elegant 2014 and 2011 Chardonnays and the vibrant Pinot Noirs from the 2000s, adds sophistication. Additionally, the blend gains structure from the Montagne de Reims Nord and the distinctly straight 2016 Meunier.
