Takamaka rum is produced in the Seychelles, on the island of Mahe in the Trois Freres distillery by the D’Offay family. The estate was founded on an old tropical spice plantation site, La Plaine St Andre, by French settlers over 200 years ago.

The distillery has been operating since 2002, and is the first and only commercial rum producer and exporter in the Seychelles. The sugarcane used is grown in four different regions of Mahe by independent farmers, and is then crushed, distilled, aged and blended on site. Takamaka rum is named after a local bay on the island and is the name of local tree.

Pti Lakaz is an honest testament of what can be achieved when cask ageing rum on this beautiful tropical island. Traditional pot distilled Seychelles cane rum from four different barrels – including two port casks – is blended with pot and column distilled molasses rum thats been aged for three years in ex-bourbon, as well as an 8 year old Bajan molasses rum from Foursquare. Bottled at 45.1% ABV with no colour or sugar added, and non-chill filtered.

Tasting Notes

This rum is full of rich fruit, such as dried apricot with notes of star anise and dried cocoa beans building into a complex finish full of dry spice.
