GIFT BOXES UNSUITABLE FOR DELIVERIES OUTSIDE LEEDS POSTCODES
The founder of the Ron Abuelo distillery first started the production in 1908 in Pese. This was founded in the newly formed Republic of Panama. The main activity of the 10,000 strong population of Panama at the time was cultivating Sugar Cane.
In 1936 Don Jose followed through with his promise to the eldest 3 of his children and began to distil the Sugar cane. Almost 100 years later Ron Abuelo still cultivate and distil all their own sugar cane in the same fashion. Sugar cane honey is used instead of molasses which gives a unique flavour profile. Maturation takes place in ex-American whiskey casks.
The XII Two Oaks is a richly smoky release from Ron Abuelo, as you may have guessed Two Oaks has been matured in two different types of oak cask. Aged for over a decade, initially the rum was rested in bourbon barrels before it was transferred to heavily-charred virgin American oak for a finishing period.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Peppery oak spice and chocolate-covered raisin, with a hint of vanilla, caramelised almond and milky coffee.
Palate: Oak and barrel char. Vanilla and coffee with a hint of kola nut.
Finish: Pleasantly lingering finish.
