This rustic red from Monferrato transports us right to the hills of northern Italy. A playful Freisa, destemmed for abalance of big juicy fruit with structure and tannin. Its pressed into fibreglass tanks after two months on the skins, and theres a whisper of CO2 effervescence when its first opened.

Nadia Verrua currently runs Cascina Tavijn, but her family has been making wines in these hills for more than a century. They farm local grapes and hazelnut trees organically and only use wild yeasts in the cellar. Minimal intervention is the aim, and the results are remarkable wines that perfectly reflect their local environment and the care that went into growing them.
