Maison Trnel ‘Clos de Champgrenon’ Mcon-Charnay has a very beautiful and enticing light gold colour in the glass before you receive the fresh, floral aromas, perfectly blended with citrus fruits. The supple, round palate boasts a long finish with lemony, buttery notes. Pair this wine with seafood, tapas, gougres, or goat cheese and serve at between 8-11C. It will age gracefully for 4 years in the right conditions.

About the Producer

Founded in 1928 by Henri Claudius Trnel, Maison Trnel is one of the most ancient and well-known houses of the Beaujolais and the Macon wine regions of France. For nearly a century, the house has had the great fortune of working with vineyards which are superbly situated and judiciously farmed. These vines consistently yield very high-quality fruit. For example, some of the vines for Trnels Beaujolais-Villages are upwards of 60 years of age.

Maison Trnel is guided by the principles of authenticity of fruit, and authenticity of terroir. The house has always strived to produce wines and fruit liqueurs that exemplify the purest expression of their origins. This sentiment is born from a love of the land, as well as a deep respect and continued practice of Burgundian traditions. It also informs the houses work ethic, written in Latin and evidenced on Maison Trnels emblem: Bene Facit Id Quod Bene Amat, or we can only succeed at that which we know well, and love.

In 2015 Maison Trnel was bought by M. CHAPOUTIER torenew focus on highlighting the differences between different vineyard sites and terroirs, the wines from Maison Trnel continue to reach even greater heights.

Vineyard and Winery

After a light settling process, alcoholic fermentation takes place 90% in stainless steel vats and 10% in oak barrels.The temperature is controlled at around 16C to preserve the wine’s fruity character.Light filtration.

Situated between the Cte Chalonnaise and the Roche de Solutr, the Mconnais mountains stretch for some 40 kilometers, between Tournus and Mcon. The Mcon Villages appellation produces wines from Mcon andthe 26 surrounding communes.The blend of different clay soils with varying proportions of limestone gives it a perfect balance between power and subtlety.
