Pineau d’Aunis is best known as a blending grape in the Loire Valley. However, as a single varietal bottling it expresses itself similarly to a Cabernet Franc but with the spice and minerality cranked up. A father and son winemaking duo, Domaine Brazilier is situated in Coteaux du Vendmois, an AOC that stretches across the banks of the Loire. Their vineyards are farmed organically. This organic red checks all the boxes of a well made Cab Franc and then some. Sour cherry and plum on the palate intermingle with peppery, dried florals and whetstone minerality. Crisp acidity allows this wine to be served at room temp or slightly chilled. Pair with lighter proteins like salmon or poultry. 12.5% ABV
