Ridge’s first vines were planted in 1885, but it took almost 100 years for the producer to wow the world: its wines swept the board at Steven Spurrier’s 1976 Judgement of Paris competition. Ever since then, Ridge has produced wines that are rightfully regarded amongst the finest Bordeaux blends and and top Burgundy whites.

Zinfandel has become another jewel in the Ridge crown. Lytton Springs is planted largely with this principle variety, with added Petite Sirah, Carignan and Mataro lending their own fragrance and characters.

The 2023 vintage was characterised by a wet winter followed by a cool spring and summer. This pushed back harvest in the twenty-eight plots, but allowed the grapes to hang longer, allowing for more roundness and complexity. Of these plots, twenty-six were selected for their rich black fruit and perfectly balanced structure.

The wine is bursting with vibrant red and black fruit, peppery spice and floral aromas. The palate is serious and robust, with firm tannins and bright acidity. Hints of vanilla, liquorice and crushed stones carry through the long, expressive finish. This is a classic Lytton Springs, and will be drinking beautifully over the next ten years.
